Relevance of Assisted Hatching with Blastocyst Stage Transfer

چکیده
When a blastocyst expands with the growth of the blastocoel, it stretches and thins the zona pellucida (ZP), ultimately rupturing the ZP allowing the embryo to hatch free ready for implantation. In the event this does not occur, then an otherwise potentially viable embryo may not implant. Assisted hatching (AH) has been developed to overcome this, but has been applied mostly to day-2/3 embryos (Cohen et al, 1992). More recently it has been reported that total zona removal with pronase can be successfully undertaken with human blastocysts (Fong et al, 1998), to enable “naked” fully-hatched blastocysts to be transferred to the uterus ready for immediate implantation. By taking a less aggressive approach with acidified Tyrode’s medium, it is equally possible to drill a large hole in the ZP of a blastocyst, without the risks associated with global exposure of the embryo to pronase. Initial retrospective comparison of AH applied in this manner to the “slower” day-6 blastocysts suggests a distinct

Comparison between Cleavage Stage versus Blastocyst Stage Embryo Transfer in an Egyptian Cohort Undergoing in vitro Fertilization: A Possible Role for Laser Assisted Hatching
BACKGROUND Extended in vitro embryo culture and blastocyst transfer have emerged as essential components of the advanced reproductive technology armamentarium, permitting selection of more advanced embryos considered best suited for transfer. AIM OF STUDY The aim of this study was to compare between cleavage stage and blastocyst stage embryo transfer in patients undergoing intracytoplasmic sp...
متن کاملClinical outcomes of vitrified-thawed embryo transfer using a pull and cut straw method
OBJECTIVE To compare the clinical outcomes of patients with vitrified-thawed embryos transferred using either the 0.25 mL straw method and the pull and cut straw (PNC) method. To evaluate the clinical outcomes of patients with transferred embryos that underwent assisted hatching at the cleaved embryo (day 3) or the blastocyst (day 5) stage. METHODS The study population consisted of women who ...
متن کاملOutcomes of vitrified-warmed cleavage-stage embryo hatching after in vitro laser-assisted zona pellucida thinning in patients.
The aim of the present study was to determine whether the size of the zona pellucida (ZP) thinning area by laser-assisted hatching affected the potential development of vitrified-warmed embryos. A total of 196 vitrified-warmed cleavage-stage embryos (from 49 patients, four sister embryos per patient) were used in the study, i.e., four sister embryos from each patient were randomly assigned to f...

متن کاملP-126: Stem Cell Factor Increases Blastocyst Formation in Mouse Two-Cell Embryo Culture
Background: It is demonstrated that c-Kit( receptor of stem cell factor) mRNA is expressed in late 2-cell stage to the expanded and hatched blastocyst and the stem cell factor (SCF) transcript is detected in the oviduct and uterus. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of different doses of SCF on mouse 2-cell embryo development in vitro. Materials and Methods: 4-6 weeks old femal...
